Amazon "Bic for Her" Customer reviews

Hilarious. This is one meme I can get behind - outlandish reviews for
run of the mill products.

"Normally I only use pens designed and created for real men, in
colours appropriate to such instruments of masculinity - black like my
chest hair or blue like the steely glint of my eyes, or the metallic
paintwork of my convertible Mustang sportscar. Imagine then the
situation I found myself in when, upon taking delivery of another
shipment of motorbike parts and footballs, I reached for and grasped
not my normal BIC pen, but a `BIC for Her Amber Medium Ballpoint Pen'
(evidently ordered by my well-meaning, but ill-informed girlfriend
whilst my back was turned). I knew something was wrong when I had to
physically restrain my hands, gnarled and worn from a lifetime of
rock-climbing and shark wrestling, from crushing the fragile implement
like a Faberge egg. Things only went downhill from there."

Bloomberg's Brilliant Waterfront Defense Plan -- Daily Intelligencer

There's plenty to be critical of in this policy area over the course of Bloomberg's reign - where was this thinking before?

Leaving that aside, there is a lot of merit on these proposals and its a good conversation starter.

The proposals themselves:

Nice work if you can get it » Lawyers, Guns & Money

Sometimes I wonder where everybody in this city gets the huge piles of
money necessary to buy outrageously expensive homes and the basics of
a middle class existence.

Then I read something like this and instead I wonder: Am I the only
sucker in this town who's not a featherbedding amoral grifter?

Crains Published A Puzzling Opinion Piece

Someone should tell Steve Hindy that 1 Hanson Place is already at best
only the third-tallest building in Brooklyn. The Brooklyner took the
honors a couple of years ago and in turn was recently unseated.

The Bad News: A 12-14 month outage for the R’s Montague Tube :: Second Ave. Sagas

Ouch. For those who thought R train service couldn't get any worse: at
least a year long outage between Manhattan and Brooklyn.

The good news: convenient connections in either side, the R train was
already slow and terrible, and the distant possibility that the
repairs will include some upgrades that improve service a little bit
when it returns.
